In all honesty, I did not get past the first chapter of this book, there fore I cannot give an over all review. But from the first chapter, I can say that this book is not appropriate for young children. It seems more of a high school book, based on 4th graders, about to go to middle school. One of the characters in the book calls another character a "Retard" and says that someone in their school said "The S-Word" (2 times)- IN THE FIRST CHAPTER ALONE.
In what I read, The over all story line wasn't that great either- If you can get past the not-so-kid-appropriate parts, and actually get through the book, there may be some good parts, but if you decide not to read the book, it doesn't sound like you would really be missing out on anything. I've read better- and I may have read a few worse- But my opinion; Not such a great book- Especially to the audience that the plot will appeal to.

I seriously don't think "retard" is such a bad word.

It is offending to alot of people, because it is an actual disorder.

Thank you for warning us about this book.
I have read a similar book, but I think this book is more inappropriate.

The point is, that was in the first chapter, so who knows what they would have in the rest of the book.
It's not appropriate for kids under 14, i think.
