Run Away Twin - By Peg Kehret
Recomended age : 9+
Run Away Twin is about a girl, named Sunny, who lived with her mother, grandmother, and twin sister, Starr, until she was 3 years old, when her mother and grandmother died. She and her sister were adopted by different people. Sunny was passed around from home to home, while her sister stayed with the same family. Sunny thinks about her sister every day, and dreams of one day meeting her again. When she finds $820, and no one claims it, she decides that this is her chance to find her sister. Without telling her foster mom, Sunny sets out to find Starr, on the way, finding a dog she names Snickers, and encountering a terrible tornado. This is a wonderful book for pre-teens. It has nothing innapropriate, no boyfriend-girlfriend stuff at all. There is only 1 part in the book that I think was a little creepy, when a taxi driver tells Sunny that she should call her foster mom to tell her where she is, because "For all she knows, you could be lying in a ditch somewhere with a knife in your back", but that's the creepiest thing in the book.
